Accommodation is offered on a twin share basis, with limited single occupancy also available (please check before booking). Accommodation style varies greatly, but is comfortable and clean, offering experiences from rustic through to boutique.
* Please note – For our one night at Yala NP dune camp, only twin and triple share accommodation arrangement is available so flexibility with this arrangement is required. (We promise it’s worth it!)
One to two sessions of yoga will be shared each day, depending on the daily schedule of activities and as dictated by the weather and Mother Nature!. Yoga will be guided by Fiona (Wild Awake’s founder) and a selected support teacher, and gently lead you through simple, grounding sequences exploring both stillness and movement. The styles shared are hatha flow and yin yoga. Beginners are completely welcome. Other supportive relaxation & mindfulness practices will be offered as part of the program, such as guided meditation and yoga nidra.
During the last 5 days of our Safari, we will have access to a newly established Ayurveda Wellness Centre right onsite at our ecolodge property. A professional Ayurvedic Doctor will be on hand and a full suite of Ayurvedic treatments available. Be nourished by freshly prepared Sri Lankan fare, created with local ingredients and as much as possible, herbs and produce grown right on the properties. Indulge in tropical fruits, freshly cultured buffalo curd, curries and vegetables with flavours out of this world. More Western tastes can be catered for, though we do encourage you to try the delicious dishes this culture has to offer. All dietary requirements can also be provided for with advance notice. Your bellies will be satisfied! And if you are a tea drinker, wow – you are going to be in heaven.

KAHANDAMODORA > COLOMBO
Late morning we hit the road to return to Colombo where our journey ends. If you wish to travel onward from Kahandamodora to explore more of Sri Lanka, you are welcome to make your own way from here.
Fly into Colombo, Sri Lanka. Be sure to arrive at least the day before your chosen trip commences as group transfer will depart early on Day 1 from Negombo. We suggest booking accommodation in Negombo the night before in order to meet the group the next morning. A meeting point will be confirmed closer to departure. We then arrive back on Colombo mid afternoon on Day 12, so please make your onward travel plans to suit.
Our overnight locations are well off the beaten track – the beauty of this experience! If you’re looking for quick and easy access to shops and restaurants, this probably isn’t the right experience for you. Most of our accommodation locations require transport by van or jeep to access ‘town’ and a journey of 20-30 minutes, depending. This is all possible, of course, and there will be opportunity to explore, but invite yourself to take that extra time out from the hustle and bustle.
* There will be only one group transfer arranged departing from Negombo on the morning of Day 1 at 8:30am. Details of the meeting place will be provided prior to departure. If you need to connect with us outside of this arrangement, transport will need to be organised by yourself and will be at your own additional cost. We return to Colombo on Day 12, arriving mid afternoon. Please plan onward travel accordingly and with plenty of time for airport check in etc. Am airport drop off will be available.
* A moderate level of fitness is recommended as for the first part of this trip as there will be daily activities of trekking (including steeper terrain), exploring the local sights and being significantly active. Being physically prepared will ensure you get the most out of the experience.
*There will be only one group transfer when we all depart Negombo together on Day 1 and return to Colombo on Day 12.
This has not yet been defined as we continue to source the perfect project.
Each of Wild Awakes experience support a conservation or social project in need and allow you to get involved to varying degrees. Details will be updated as soon as they are confirmed.
What a soulful and incredible experience I have had with you, Fiona. Off grid challenges where I have seen things that I will never forget with a warm and caring fearless leader has filled me with gratitude. Thank you so much beautiful Sri Lanka, and Fiona. I will return.
Thank you for showing me the way, Fiona. I wandered and wondered. Five senses were touched every day of this adventure; sometimes a sixth of some kind seemed present. I was guided to and learnt how to give myself permission - couldn't have done it without you.
Bohoma Istutu, Lorisse.
First time travelling without my babies - big step!! Thank you for a beautiful experience. You are a generous and passionate teacher! I feel truly…
– Deeply centred
Fiona went above and beyond with her retreat in Sri Lanka. She thoughtfully planned delightful and surprising experiences and treats in addition to the yoga, so we got a gorgeous taste of Sri Lanka that I wouldn't have otherwise had! Fiona is totally committed to her environmental causes and this added a wonderful dimension to the retreat experience. Her yin yoga teaching is wonderful and my hips have been opened like never before. Thanks Fiona, my hips love you and so do I!
Fiona's attention to detail, thoughtfulness and inclusivity will make me sign up for other retreats she offers in a heartbeat!
